The Proud of You Project uses the word “Donate” as a simple way to invite people to support the work of the Project. Please read the information below so you understand how contributions currently work.
1. Organization Status
The Proud of You Project is not currently recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. Contributions made to POY should therefore not be represented as tax-deductible charitable contributions for U.S. federal income tax purposes. Please consult your own tax adviser regarding your individual circumstances.
2. How Support May Be Used
Unless we expressly state that a contribution is legally restricted for a specific purpose, financial support may be used where POY reasonably determines it can help operate and advance the Project. This may include Proud of You Packs; direct recipient support; products and services for recipients; fulfillment; shipping; payment-processing costs; website and software expenses; community growth; marketing; staffing; contractors; administration; general operations; and future Proud of You Project programs.
3. Contributions Are Generally Unrestricted
A contribution does not become legally restricted to a particular Honoree, Pack, item or program merely because that person or program appears near the contribution form. Unless POY expressly accepts a contribution as restricted in writing, POY retains discretion over how the funds are used in support of the Project.
4. Reallocation
Circumstances can change. A recipient may decline, a Pack may become fully supported, a Partner may provide an item, or a program may change or end. When this happens, POY may redirect available support to another legitimate Project need.
5. No Guarantee to a Specific Individual
Submitting financial support does not create a promise that any particular person will receive cash, a Pack, a product, a service, or a particular amount of support.
6. Refunds
Contributions are generally final and non-refundable. We may review refund requests involving duplicate transactions, unauthorized transactions, processing errors, or other circumstances required by applicable law or payment-provider rules. Contact us promptly if you believe a transaction was made in error.
7. One-Time Support
At launch, POY accepts one-time contributions only. If recurring contributions are introduced later, this Policy must be updated before that feature launches.
8. Payment Processing
Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. POY does not intentionally store complete payment-card numbers through ordinary website transactions. Payment providers maintain their own terms and privacy practices.
9. Receipts
Contribution receipts are provided as records of the transaction. They are not charitable tax receipts and should not state or imply that a contribution is deductible as a charitable contribution.
